For years Kris Kristinsson worked as a translator and technical writer in Japan. After a year of globetrotting in 2001, he found himself in Huaraz, a town high in the Andes popular for mountaineering. He became enchanted by the region's natural beauty and kindness of it's people. He decided to stay and work on a promotional website (www.huaraz.com) to aid local economic development.
Despite it's obvious beauty, Huaraz had not long before been on the edge of a civil war. As he became closely connected with the local population through his work, he was struck with the idea to make a movie that touched on themes recognizable to the local population. With this new goal in mind, he was able to mobilize a diverse group of people to make the film a reality. Still, you might call Ruta del Jaca a one man project, as Kris wrote, filmed, directed, produced and edited his debut film by himself. He is currently working on a new movie.

Stienette joined the project when the movie edit was largely finished. She is an
award winning producer, based in Amsterdam and helped prepare
Ruta del Jaca for cinema release, managing the funds the movie received by the Dutch Film Fund.
Came from Lima to the Peruvian Andes as an engineer. He now runs an NGO called Vasos Comunicantes that manages and promotes cultural projects that raise awareness about social and environmental problems. One of his projects is a series of documentaries about the Quechua language in the Callejon de Huaylas.
Has been working on several filmprojects in the Netherlands. In 2006 he filmed a documentary project with Dutch and Brazilian musicians in Fortaleze. He has worked as an editor for MTV in Amsterdam.
Phenomenal electronic band from San Diego. Jason Soares and JFRE Robot Coad created the forceful score which accentuates the mysterious air of Ruta del Jaca.
